Raised Cup Project

I created this project as part of my Holloware final of 2023. The cup is created using silversmithing raising techniques. This is where a cup or hollow object form is created from a flat sheet only by hammering the sheet metal. The cup is made from a copper sheet that has been darkened with a liver of sulfur. The hand-made sterling silver straw intersects through the cup wall. The base is made of copper and concrete. The base holds the cup using rods on springs that compress when the cup is set upon it to form the bottom of the cup. Completed April 2023
